Ecuador volcanoes and native cultures tours


This is one of our most complete tours traveling along the Avenue of Volcanoes. We will visit Cotopaxi Volcano, the highest active volcano in the world (5,897 mts, 19,342.16 ft), the amazing Quilotoa Crater Lake and the indigenous markets such as Zumbahua, Saquisilí and Pujilí depending on the day of your visit.



Day 1

Arrival in Quito and transfer to the Hotel.

Day 2

This day you will visit the colonial site of Quito where you will walk through the Main Plaza. Visit the Government Palace, the Cathedral and some of the most important churches built around the XVI and XVII centuries. in the Afternoon Lunch and visit to The Equator Line and some of the museums of this place. The Equator Line or Mitad del Mundo is located just at 30 minutes north of Quito, this monument marks the closest point from where the Equator passes. Return to Quito for dinner and overnigth.

Day 3

After breakfast our guide will pick you up at your hotel to travel through the famous Volcano’s Avenue where you can meet different native communities and share with them in order to learn about their costumes and traditions. You will arrive to Hacienda “El Porvenir”, the principal hacienda of Volcano Land. Here you will learn how the Chagras (the people that work with cattle in this area, like cow boys) live, you will enjoy of a horseback riding wearing their typical clothes and visiting the foothills of Rumiñahui Volcano, riding side by side with herds of wild horses and bulls. Return to the main house where a delicious lunch will be waiting for you and in the afternoon you will visit Cotopaxi National Park, where if the weather conditions permit, you can admire the impressive Cotopaxi Volcano (5,897 mts. 19,342.16 ft).  Then you can walk around Limpiopungo lake located in the base of the volcano where you can enjoy of the flora and fauna.  Late in the afternoon our guide will drive you to a local hacienda where you will diner and overnight.t.


Day 4

Early in the morning after breakfast depending on the day of your tour you can visit an indigenous market, where you will see how the local people trade their products, (on Sunday and Wednesday: Pujilí Market; on Thursday: Saquisilí market and on Saturday: Zumbahua market). Then you will visit Quilotoa Lake, on route you can stop in Tigua a small town where you can find amazing handicrafts made by animal skins and beautiful and colorful masks that represent some local animals.  Finally you will arrive to Quilotoa Lake where if you want and if the weather conditions permit you can walk down from the border of the crater to arrive to the lake, time to visit the area and go back walking, or if you prefer it is possible to hire mules to return.  You will enjoy of a delicious box lunch on route. Late afternoon you will return to Quito to your hotel.


Day 5

After breakfast our guide will be waiting for you at the lobby of the hotel in order to visit one of the most prosperous communities in our country, Otavalo where you will find the famous Ponchos’ Market.  Here you can find colourful handicrafts like rugs, clothes, Panama hats, pictures, jewelry, etc. Then you will go to a local hacienda where a delicious lunch will be waiting for you. In the afternoon you will visit Cuicocha Lake in Cotacachi Cayapas Ecological Reserve on the route you will stop in Cotacachi town known for its famous leather handicrafts. Then you will continue to Cuicocha, this lake lies inside the crater of an active volcano surrounded by flora and fauna. This place is considered as a sacred lake and in a certain season of the year the native people celebrate traditional rituals to purify and clean their souls.  Late afternoon you will return to Quito. Overnight.


Day 6

After an unforgettable expedition in Ecuador full of culture and nature you will be transferred to the airport to catch our flight.
